Early Spring Lawncare Tips
Now is the time to set a foundation for a healthy lawn that you’ll enjoy all summer long. Doing this work now will save lots of time later and help make sure your lawn is the envy of your neighbors.
Check your tools. Make sure your hoses and sprinkler systems are in good working shape. Tune-up your lawnmower.
Clean Up. Gather any twigs, branches or other debris left over from the winter. Then, rake out the dead grass.
Repair bare spots. Apply top soil, seed and water daily for at least two weeks.
Prevent weeds. Apply a weed preventer in early spring and follow label directions.
Mow high. Tall grass sinks deeper roots and crowds out weeds. As a rule of thumb, mow to remove only one-third of the total grass blade length at a time.
